Original & Genuine Set of 4 Antique 1900′s Mercury Glass Star & Bauble Cluster Decorations. Possibly one of the best decorations I have listed this year, is this original set of 4 genuine mercury glass star decorations. Made from true mercury glass – these have real mercury trapped inside the glass that gives them a very high sheen that will never fade or mar with time. These were made only for the very wealthiest of households and pre-dating the first world war few have survived that, or the 2nd world war that followed. So to obtain a complete set such as this is as near to impossible as it gets. Each of the pieces measures roughly 20cm long by 8cm wide (across the star). The stars are made of strings of beads on a fine wire, all put together by hand and set to the centre with a glass bauble. Below them hangs a trio of mercury glass string beads holding 3 glass baubles which match the colour of the one to the centre of the star. They have then been finished with small red bows. There is one green, 1 red, 1 blue and 1 cerise piece. They are all in exceptionally good condition considering their age, with wear predominantly limited to the baubles at the ends of the bead strings. The red star is missing its original wire hanger but it doesn’t effect the use. They have been beautifully boxed and gift wrapped making them ready to give as a present, either for that someone special, or as a treat for yourself. The gift box has been hand finished and will also keep the decorations safe during storage. Vintage decorations make a wonderful gift and last a lifetime, bringing memories year after year. Finding a decoration from your own childhood and long since forgotten, can bring back some of the happiest memories from very early childhood.
