On display is a 1996 texas state capitol christmas ornament. This is the first edition and the first ornament in a series of collectible ornaments. This particular one features the south entrance of the state capitol of texas. This ornament is presented in a red box lined with a decorative red velveteen insert. It also includes a leaflet relating the history of the texas state capitol building part of which follows.
It is located on the square originally selected as the site of the capitol of the republic of texas, and represents more than just another building to texans. It stands as a testimonial to the vision of early texans whose dream of a glorious future is represented in its grandeur. A colorful terrazzo floor is located in the rotunda commemorating texas’ independence. The design depicts the six nations whose flags have flown over texas; spain, france, mexico, the republic of texas, the confederacy, and the united states of america. This collectible ornament was originally offered by the state preservation board.
